New Jersey and Delaware clinical sites near Philadelphia

Research confirmed two systems in New Jersey and Delaware that name Drexel on their own student pages. ChristianaCare includes Drexel University in its Graduate Clinical Partnerships list, and Virtua's individual student request form includes Drexel among its affiliate schools. Both still require an active agreement before they consider a placement, so a listing is where your search starts, not a reserved spot.

Cooper University Health Care announced a partnership with Drexel on March 2, 2026, but its placement pieces target Drexel's accelerated BSN students, and NP students are not named. Nemours appears in a Drexel apprenticeship for clinical medical assistants, which is also outside NP training.

Drexel's pediatric tracks highly recommend Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware RN licenses to widen preceptor and site choices, so pediatric students in particular should keep both states in view.

ChristianaCare, based in Wilmington and Newark, requires a current clinical affiliation agreement for every nursing student, including its own caregivers, and says it is not entering into new agreements. Graduate students are told to confirm with their school that an active agreement is on record before contacting ChristianaCare about clinical hours.

Applications go through Clinician Nexus, ChristianaCare's third-party application vendor, where students create an account and apply under their program. The system describes more than 2,000 student placement opportunities a year across three hospital campuses and outpatient sites. Because Drexel is on the graduate partner list, a Drexel NP student has a real route in; confirm with Drexel's clinical placement manager that the agreement covers your track before you apply.

Bayhealth, in Dover and Milford, lists NP and DNP students in its clinical experiences program and states that NP students must find their own preceptors. For a one-to-one rotation a preceptor must accept you first; the school's coordinator then submits a Student by Instructor (SBI) form at least four weeks ahead, one per rotation. Bayhealth clears students in Clinician Nexus: a criminal background check, a child and adult abuse registry check, a ten-panel drug screen within six months of the start, BLS, immunizations, a TB test within a year and a seasonal flu vaccine.

Beebe Healthcare in Lewes takes NP students through Clinician Nexus, though a notice closed nursing and allied health rotations for the rest of 2025, and whether NP rotations have reopened is unclear. Nemours Children's Hospital, Delaware reports affiliations with more than 25 schools of nursing and trains RNs in master's and doctoral programs, but publishes no APRN placement route. TidalHealth Nanticoke in Seaford wants preceptorship applications 90 days before the start date.

Delaware's nursing rules, unlike anything research found for Pennsylvania or New Jersey, reach out-of-state schools. Under 24 Del. Admin. Code 1900, rule 2.4.1.9.4.1.5, out-of-state schools requesting use of Delaware clinical facilities notify the Board before using them and submit:

• Proof of program approval or national accreditation
• Copies of written agreements with every clinical agency used
• The school's preceptor requirements, plus the names of faculty and preceptors and their sites
• A copy of each faculty member's or preceptor's current Delaware or compact multistate license

The rules also require preceptors to be licensed or privileged at or above the level the student is preparing for, and they do not carve out graduate programs. This is a school-level filing, so before you commit to a Delaware site, ask Drexel's Clinical Compliance team whether its notice covers your placement.

Virtua, serving Camden and Burlington counties, considers only students enrolled in a Virtua affiliate program, and Drexel University appears in the affiliate list on its individual request form. The form offers a Graduate Nursing Student profile with NP specialty options and tells you to stop if you are not aware of an affiliation agreement. Virtua uses its own web forms rather than a third-party platform, and the school verifies health screens, a drug test and a national criminal background check covering seven years.

An older Virtua prerequisites sheet from 2015 lists a current New Jersey license for RN students. New Jersey joined the compact in 2021, so a multistate license may now satisfy it, but that is unconfirmed; ask Virtua during onboarding.

Cooper, in Camden, runs an APP Preceptorship initiative through its Center for Advanced Practice. Its March 2026 partnership with Drexel launches Bridge to Practice for Drexel accelerated BSN students and says Cooper will offer expanded clinical placement opportunities in women's health, pediatrics and other high-demand specialties. NP students are not named, so treat Cooper as a system to ask Drexel about rather than a confirmed NP route.

Most other New Jersey systems publish student affiliation programs without an NP-specific route. Here is what research found:

• Capital Health, around Trenton, places undergraduate and graduate nursing students through its Student Affiliation Program, with individual and group request forms and an agreement required.
• RWJBarnabas Health requires an active affiliation agreement; at Jersey City Medical Center, rotation requests are due 8 to 10 weeks ahead and the clearance form 4 to 6 weeks before the start.
• AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center places more than 800 nursing students a year under academic affiliations but describes no NP route.
• Hackensack Meridian Health has teaching affiliations with more than 100 institutions; no graduate or APN form was found.
• Inspira has no public placement page, and Rowan College of South Jersey advertises priority Inspira placements for its own nursing students.
• Jefferson Health New Jersey and Penn Medicine Princeton Health publish no New Jersey NP page; their parent systems are covered on Philadelphia clinical sites.

New Jersey's Board rules require a written program-agency agreement, but no rule was found requiring out-of-state APN programs to get Board approval before placing students in the state, and no New Jersey APRN placement consortium turned up.

Both states belong to the Nurse Licensure Compact: Delaware since January 19, 2018 and New Jersey since November 15, 2021. A multistate license from your home compact state therefore covers RN practice in both, which matters because Drexel requires an RN license for every state where you do clinical hours. Delaware has also enacted the APRN Compact, which is not yet operational. Individual sites can still ask for more than the compact requires: CHOP asks graduate students for a Pennsylvania or New Jersey license, and Virtua's older prerequisites named a New Jersey one.
