Drexel AGPCNP clinical courses: 640 hours, patients 13 and up

The AGPCNP sequence moves steadily up the age range. It opens with young adults, widens to adult primary care, then spends its last two quarters on older adults and gerontology. The sample plan starts it in Summer of year two and finishes in Spring of year three, one quarter sooner than the five-course tracks.

Each course is worth 5.0 quarter credits within the 52.0-credit MSN. The clinical hours overview sets this track beside the others.

The AGPCNP catalog header lists 640 clinical hours alongside 52.0 quarter credits, and that is the only hour figure Drexel prints for the track. The course descriptions for NURS 660 to NURS 663 do not repeat a number, unlike the FNP and WHNP descriptions. Dividing 640 across four equal courses gives 160, which matches the per-course load Drexel states for its other tracks, but it remains our arithmetic.

At 160 hours, a ten-week quarter works out to roughly 16 hours a week with your preceptor. The exact course figure matters most when a preceptor can offer only a set number of days, because a shortfall found in week eight is hard to recover.

Drexel defines the AGPCNP population as patients aged 13 years and above and describes clinical settings that include primary care and assisted living, from specialty clinics to primary care offices. Its program page calls the result a mixed outpatient experience, with supervision drawn from licensed physicians and APNs working in accredited institutions.

The course titles tell you when each setting matters. NURS 660 and NURS 661 suit a general adult primary care practice, while NURS 662 mentions the primary and long-term care setting, and NURS 663 centers on gerontology. Plan for older-adult volume, such as a geriatric practice or assisted-living rounds, in the second half of the sequence. Drexel's preceptor qualifications are on the preceptor requirements page.

NURS 660 requires a B or better in each of the ten shared NP prerequisites, with NURS 641 filling the population pharmacology slot for this track. NUPR 520 precedes it by about three quarters in the sample plan, sitting in Fall of year two, and that seminar is where Drexel introduces the clinical contracting and compliance processes; the NUPR 520 guide covers it.

The track's single On-Campus Intensive falls inside NURS 660: four days during week one of the summer quarter. Plan your first clinical days around it, since the full quarter's hours still have to fit in. Drexel notes that intensives can be on campus or virtual and that dates are subject to change; the intensives page lists every track's. On experience, Drexel prefers one year of adult nursing but does not require it.

The post-master's AGPCNP certificate runs the same four courses for the same 640 hours inside 34.0 quarter credits over about two years. It adds a location rule found on Drexel's CNHP certificate page and in the 2027–28 certificate catalog: all 640 practicum hours have to be completed either in the state where you live or in Pennsylvania, and you need a Pennsylvania RN license on top of your home-state license. The online program page and the MSN do not repeat the rule, so confirm it with the program before you search elsewhere.

Certificate students also need the three Ps (advanced pathophysiology, pharmacology and physical assessment), either transferred in or taken at Drexel before NURS 660. In the 2027–28 catalog AGPCNP keeps four clinical courses, each 5.0 semester credits, and borrows the first three from the primary care series it shares with FNP. The fourth is its own.

NURS 7603 is described as an advanced clinical immersion within a selected specialty, so the last semester preceptor may come from a specialty practice rather than general primary care.
