Drexel NP clinicals in Wisconsin

Wisconsin is absent from every Drexel exclusion list. Every nursing path Drexel teaches online, from the RN-to-BSN through the NP master's and certificates to the DNP, takes Wisconsin applicants.

Wisconsin puts schools from other states through its own approval. The DSPS form for it, 3067-OEE (last revised in April 2026), points to Wis. Admin. Code N 1.06 and says those schools need the Wisconsin Board of Nursing's sign-off. It covers everything from practical nursing and associate or bachelor's RN programs (post-licensure bachelor's among them) through graduate study. Once approved, a school keeps its standing by sending DSPS a self-evaluation on Form 3069OEE.

DSPS keeps a public list of the out-of-state schools it has approved. Before you commit to a Wisconsin site, ask Drexel's state authorization office (sara@drexel.edu) to confirm where Drexel stands. That DSPS form also expects faculty and preceptors in a Wisconsin clinical to carry either Wisconsin licensure or the privilege to practice in Wisconsin.

2025 Wisconsin Act 17 reached its start date on September 1, 2026. DSPS now issues one APRN license with four possible roles, nurse practitioner among them, and has moved existing APNP holders onto it, so a preceptor's license may read differently than it did last quarter. An NP who wants to work without a collaborating physician files a separate application for Board approval, and AANP's fact sheet still describes Wisconsin as reduced practice with physician collaboration.

Drexel's own filter sits on top of Wisconsin's: a board-certified NP, nurse midwife or physician in a specialty Drexel has approved, with a minimum of one year in practice. PAs are not on Drexel's list. See Drexel's preceptor requirements.

A Wisconsin RN license has been multistate-capable since January 19, 2018. One Drexel page, on compliance certifications, is satisfied by a Wisconsin multistate license; the NP program pages still list Pennsylvania licensure as a precondition for clinicals. Only Iowa, among your neighbors, is in the compact. Illinois and Michigan are not, so a site there needs that state's license. Minnesota is outside the compact and closed to Drexel NP enrollment for its residents; whether a Wisconsin student may train there is unpublished, so ask Drexel first.

Aurora Health Care (part of Advocate Health), Aspirus Health, UW Health, Ascension Wisconsin and Froedtert ThedaCare Health are the large systems, spread over the Milwaukee-Waukesha, Madison, Green Bay and Appleton metros. None is a named Drexel partner; each is simply a place NP students ask. No Wisconsin preceptor incentive was found, so the case you make rests on what Drexel gives preceptors, including a clinical faculty title and discounted continuing education.
